Rolling Stone Music Club. Still the top place for live music in San Pedro la Laguna.
Tapas Tapas opened last week on the east side of San Pedro. It’s around the corner from Casa Atitlan. Great food, drinks and people. See AtitlanSol for more news from Lake Atitlan, Guatenala.
From one end of Seventh Avenue to the other, restaurants and bars have been shutting down, reopening or changing locations. Deep Blue Restaurant closed for keeps after only a few months across the street from Casa Atitlan. Next door, Taboo Bar has been shut for weeks and appears closed.
Down the street, Blue Parrot Bar and Grill will be closed until October. El Barrio Bar has reopened, with a new Mayan Cuisine night that has proved popular. Next door, Ventana Blue Restaurant has new hours, opening at 6 PM on Wednesday through Sunday.
The Deep End Bar and Pool closed permanently, but the same crew is doing Smokin’ Joes’ Sunday BBQ at another pool near the end of Seventh Avenue. We’ll have a full report tomorrow.
And The Clover Restaurant reopened under new management. But without Paul, the founder, Clover is not what it used to be and has turned into a ghost town that we can no longer recommend.
#SanPedroBars have come a long way in the past five years, but things are changing again. The Clover Restaurant, also one of San Pedro’s popular bars, closed last week. Now we hear that El Jardin Restaurant across the street is closing, along with Mitos Bar.
On the bright side, El Barrio Bar reopens next week, there’s a new bar called Tattoo and a two new restaurants, Deep Blue and an Italian restaurant. And lots of others with amazingly low-priced drinks and beer specials that will be reported on this blog. (Alegre Pub, Bar Fe and El Barrio are the top places to watch the World Cup games that last through June.)
Until then, stay updated on all the nightlife and party news from San Pedro at San Pedro la Laguna Bars.
The Bar of the Month for Lake Atitlan, Guatemala, is The Deep End Bar and Pool in San Pedro la Laguna. See Deep End Bar and Pool for a review.
The votes are in, and from the exit polls we are projecting the El Barrio Bar is once again the best bar on 7th Avenue in San Pedro la Laguna. Everyone agrees El Barrio is still the place where the local ex-pats hang out on in San Pedro.
Weekly Events at El Barrio Bar
Each night starts with a spin of the wheel, when a customer gets to pick the drink special. Mojitos are Q10 every night (unless you would rather pay Q30 at a Pana bar), and so are Cuba Libres. Beer specials too.
El Barrio hosts a Pub Quiz on Wednesdays at 7 PM. On Mondays, you can get Q2 Chicken Wings with any liter of beer. Karl and Trish serve home-cooked meals on Tuesdays around 7. On Saturdays, dont miss the all-you-can-eat brunch from 10 AM-4 PM.
There’s satellite TV, music and bands or special events on some nights, and a cozy fire outside.
