New Schedule at El Barrio Bar

After reopening parties last week with a new owner and staff, El Barrio has a new schedule of events and promotions. (But it’s still San Pedro la Laguna’s top hangout for locals.)

Monday: Wings Night. Q2 wings when you spend at least Q25 on drinks.

Tuesday: Pub Quiz at 7 PM.

Wednesday: Nestor’s Night. New meal every week.

Thursday: Noche de Chapin, with Mayan Cuisine.

Friday: Curry Night

Saturday: Champagne Brunch with Build Your Own Omelete Bar, 9 AM-1 PM. Steak Night at 6 PM.

Sunday: Industry Recovery Night. Drink specials for local staffers.

El Barrio now opens at 9 AM daily and will soon serve breakfast.

The San Pedro la Laguna Festival of 2014

Everyone’s getting revved up for the Feria de San Pedro at #LakeAtitlan. They’re setting up booths in the streets today and the rides are on the way. I’ll update this post with details and specific dates for the festival. Until then, see Lake Atitlan for more info on things to do here.

El Barrio Bar Reopens on Friday, Summer Solstice Party is on Saturday

The grand reopening of El Barrio Bar in San Pedro la Laguna take place on June 20 at 6 PM. Lots of drink and food specials are planned.There’s a new cook in town, Rick, and San Pedro’s top bartender, Eric, who poured the first King Kong Cuba at Barrio years ago, is back at the bar.

The Summer Solstice party starts with a solstice ceremony on Saturday at 6 PM. For more info on the local bar scene, see San Pedro Nightlife.

A pre-Grand Opening Party on Thursday night packed the house with locals, all glad to see the place open again and with an excellent staff.

San Pedro la Laguna Bars: 2014 Update

#SanPedroBars have come a long way in the past five years, but things are changing again. The Clover Restaurant, also one of San Pedro’s popular bars, closed last week. Now we hear that El Jardin Restaurant across the street is closing, along with Mitos Bar.

On the bright side, El Barrio Bar reopens next week, there’s a new bar called Tattoo and a two new restaurants, Deep Blue and an Italian restaurant. And lots of others with amazingly low-priced drinks and beer specials that will be reported on this blog. (Alegre Pub, Bar Fe and El Barrio are the top places to watch the World Cup games that last through June.)

Where to Watch the World Cup in San Pedro la Laguna

Soccer fans in San Pedro will converge on at Alegre Pub, San Pedro la Laguna”s original sports bar, day in and day out starting June 12, for FIFA’s World Cup games.

No, Alegre Pub is not showing Terry Gilliam’s film Brazil every night in June — Alegre Pub is showing the World Cup games.

During each game, you get a free beer when you buy a Bacon and Cheeseburger. A wide variety of other drink and food specials will make this the top place to watch the World Cup at Lake Atitlan as well as the lovely town of San Pedro la Laguna. The wraparound arrangement of big ass TVs is another good reason to watch the games at Alegre. Great beer prices, even on imported beer, is another.

Deep Blue Restaurant in San Pedro

Deep Blue serves up over a pound of food at budget prices. The main dish is Fish and Chips, and other menu items at this restaurant include Chips and Cheese and Poutine.

Deep Blue has fast service and economical food in San Pedro la Laguna.

It’s on 7th Avenue, across the street from hostel Casa Atitlan and next door to the new bar, Tattoo.
